The project S-B917-NRT5-13 was conducted by NRT5 in response to requests from several different local and federal agencies. The purpose of survey D00178 is to determine accurate water depths along the U.S. Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team’s New York Pier. Although the data was collected to Object Detection standards, due to the small size and specialized nature of the survey request, this survey was not intended to meet NOAA charting specifications.</ns1:memoPurpose><ns1:products productSubmitted="true"><ns1:discussion>NRT5 processed the data it acquired and then provided the USCG with a printout of the chart, overlaid with survey scale soundings and a color coded CARIS BASE surface, which served as a digital terrain model. The purpose of this product was to allow for rapid visual assessment of the area immediately surrounding the City Pier. See the Constituent Products folder and D00178_GeoImage_USCG_ANT_NY.pdf for reference. All survey information on this plot was derived from multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) data.</ns1:discussion></ns1:products><ns1:dataAcquisitionAndProcessing>No Data Acquisition and Processing Report (DAPR) or Hydrographic Systems Readiness Review (HSRR) was performed prior to the acquisition of this survey. Due to the small size of the survey it was not slated for full compilation to the chart. PHB recommends the following updates be made to appropriate scale NOAA chart products. Data was collected to Object Detection standards, though due to the small size and specialized nature of the survey request, this survey was not intended to meet NOAA charting specifications. With the exception of the chart letter submitted to MCD on September 2, 2016 to update a few select charted soundings the survey will not be applied to NOAA charting products. The survey evaluation and verification has been conducted according to current OCSspecifications and procedures. The survey has not been approved for chart updates. The data will be archived at NGDC so that it can be made available for other uses.</ns1:discussion></ns1:approval></ns1:memoBody><ns1:metadataTable><ns2:number>S-B917-NRT5-13</ns2:number><ns2:registryNumber>D00178</ns2:registryNumber><ns2:stateOrTerritory>New Jersey</ns2:stateOrTerritory><ns2:generalLocality>Upper and Lower Bay, NY</ns2:generalLocality><ns2:sublocality>USCG Aids to Navigation Team New York Pier</ns2:sublocality><ns2:scale>5000</ns2:scale><ns2:equipmentTypes><ns2:manufacturer>Kongsberg</ns2:manufacturer><ns2:model>EM3002</ns2:model><ns2:type>MBES</ns2:type></ns2:equipmentTypes><ns2:equipmentTypes><ns2:manufacturer>Klein</ns2:manufacturer><ns2:model>3000</ns2:model><ns2:type>SSS</ns2:type></ns2:equipmentTypes><ns2:horizontalDatum>North American Datum 1983</ns2:horizontalDatum><ns2:verticalDatum>Mean Lower Low Water</ns2:verticalDatum><ns2:verticalDatumCorrection><ns2:methodsUsed>Discrete Zoning</ns2:methodsUsed></ns2:verticalDatumCorrection><ns2:projection>Projected UTM 18N</ns2:projection><ns2:fieldUnit>NRT 5</ns2:fieldUnit><ns2:datesOfSurvey><ns2:start>2013-04-29</ns2:start><ns2:end>2013-04-29</ns2:end></ns2:datesOfSurvey><ns2:chiefOfParty>Steven Loy, NOAA</ns2:chiefOfParty><ns2:submission>2016-04-27</ns2:submission></ns1:metadataTable></ns1:descriptiveReportMemo>
